Nov. 9, 2017
RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech will continue its two-game home stand this Saturday, Nov. 11 when the Bulldogs host Florida Atlantic for the first meeting in the history of the two football programs. The game between Louisiana Tech and Florida Atlantic is set to kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT Saturday, Nov. 11 and will be broadcast on STADIUM with Ron Thulin (play-by-play) and Max Starks (analysis) calling all the action from Joe Aillet Stadium in Ruston. "This will be a great challenge for us this week not only to play with confidence after losing a number of close games, but also with the caliber of opponent that we have coming in here this weekend," head coach Skip Holtz said. "Lane Kiffin has done a great job with this team. [Florida Atlantic] has an awful lot of talent. They are 6-3 right now and they have been on a string of reeling off five straight wins in the conference. You look at their five wins and they are not close games and against some of the better teams in our league. The way they are playing right now, they are playing really good football and I think it all starts with what they are doing on offense." Florida Atlantic, led by first-year head coach Lane Kiffin, enters the weekend atop Conference USA's East Division standings with a 6-3 overall record and a perfect 5-0 mark in league games. The Owls will travel to Ruston riding a five-game winning streak that dates back to the last weekend in September.
As for the Bulldogs, LA Tech will look to get back to its winning ways after falling to 4-5 overall and 2-3 in C-USA play with last week's one-point loss to North Texas at home. Louisiana Tech continues to struggle in close games this season as the Bulldogs have lost four games by a total of 10 points, including three one-point defeats in 2017. Additionally, in the last seven games, LA Tech has been locked in one-possession games in the final four minutes and 30 seconds of regulation. Kiffin's Owls enter the weekend ranked first in Conference USA and seventh nationally in rushing offense, while running back Devin Singletary is ranked first in the nation with 19 rushing touchdowns. Singletary is also ranked fifth nationally in rushing yards (1,256) and sixth in rushing yards per game (139.6). This weekend marks Military Appreciation Day at Joe Aillet Stadium with the first 4,000 fans in the stadium set to receive a limited edition LA Tech American flag koozie. Tickets can be purchased online at LATechSports.com or by calling the LA Tech Ticket Office at 318-257-3631. Fans are encouraged to buy their tickets in advance of the game.
