Quin Harris was out of his element on Tuesday afternoon, but enjoying himself nonetheless.

The Louisiana Tech linebacker made the trip from the rolling hills of north central Louisiana to the bright lights of New York City, his inaugural trip to the Big Apple, and he found the experience stunning.

"It's a little chilly, but the Waldorf-Astoria, where they have us staying, is something else," Harris said. "The first thing I did was get in a taxi and that was the most adventurous outing I've ever been on. It was like riding a roller coaster at Six Flags. But I'm getting accustomed."

Harris was in New York to be honored as a 2008 National Scholar-Athlete by the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame. He not only received an expense-paid trip to New York, he was awarded an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship at a banquet on Tuesday night.
