FRISCO, Texas - With the DXL Frisco Bowl a mere three days away, the Louisiana Tech football team kicked off practice at the Toyota Stadium practice fields for their first full day in the Lone Star State.

"We did a lot of work in Ruston prior to travelling here," head coach Skip Holtz said. "This was our only padded practice here in Frisco, but I thought our guys came out and had great energy today."

After arriving in Frisco early yesterday evening, the Bulldogs enjoyed a welcome dinner at the team hotel before heading over to the practice fields this morning.

Tech began practice with some special teams practice before splitting up into individual position groups for some one-on-one work. Holtz and company wrapped up the hour-and-a-half practice with some competitive team drills.

"There's always a lot of excitement and energy when you're at a bowl game," Holtz added. "I thought it really showed, and they were really focused and dialed in with what we needed to get done today."

The squad will take the afternoon off before meeting up again tonight for dinner and a movie.

The team will see a change of venue tomorrow, as they will hold a walkthrough and a tour at The Star in Frisco - the Dallas Cowboys' new practice facility.

"We've talked about how excited we are to be here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area - with the number of alumni that we have here," Holtz concluded. "We're excited with the bowl game we have, the location and the opponent we have. We want to come out here and have a good time, but at the same time, we're here to play a football game, so we need to make sure we're focused and dialed in with what we have to do for the game. I thought we did a good job of that today."

Tech will take on SMU on Wednesday, Dec. 20 in the DXL Frisco Bowl at 7 p.m. on ESPN.
