RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech announced its 2013 non-conference football schedule Thursday, including the inaugural game in the Skip Holtz era for the Bulldogs.

Tech will play four non-conference games to go along with eight conference match-ups as the Bulldogs begin its first season of play in Conference USA. Conference games and divisions have not yet been finalized and announced.

Louisiana Tech will open the season on Aug. 31 at North Carolina State in Raleigh in the first meeting between the two schools. NC State will only be the second team Tech has faced from the Tar Heel State other than East Carolina.

On Sept. 7, the Bulldogs will host their home opener at Joe Aillet Stadium against Lamar, rekindling an old rivalry that dates back to 1959 but has been dormant since 1986. Tech holds a 17-5 advantage in the series and has won six of the last seven meetings.

LA Tech faces another BCS-conference level team on Sept. 21 with a game at Kansas on Sept. 21. That game will mark the fourth meeting between the two schools. Tech won the initial meeting in 1988, 31-28, in a year that the Bulldogs team is fondly remembered as being classified as a Division I-AA team but played a Division I-A schedule as it sought reclassification to the highest level of competition.

Tech wraps up its non-conference slate on historic grounds on Sept. 28 as the Bulldogs will face Army in Dallas in the inaugural Heart of Dallas Kickoff Classic at the Cotton Bowl. The game will be billed as Veteran’s Appreciation Day and also surrounds the opening weekend of the State Fair of Texas. The Fair is a 24-day showcase of entertainment, exhibits and competition presented in Dallas each fall in historic Fair Park, a 277-acre complex recognized for its beautiful landscaping and unique collection of art deco architecture. Individuals purchasing a ticket to the LA Tech-Army game will receive free admission to the fair on the day of the game.

Louisiana Tech fans can claim their seats for the 2013 season today with a $50 non-refundable deposit that will be applied towards the purchase of their season ticket package. That deposit can be made online at LATechSports.com or by calling the LA Tech Ticket Office at 318-257-3631 or by emailing TechTickets@LATech.edu.

All game dates and times are subject to change.
