IK Enemkpali Named First Team All-Louisiana

Dec. 25, 2013

BATON ROUGE, La. - Louisiana Tech defensive end IK Enemkpali was named to the all-Louisiana first team football list by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Wednesday (LSWA).

With Enemkpali’s selection to the first team, LA Tech is one of seven schools represented on the first team list. The LSWA selected a first and second all-Louisiana team based on players’ accomplishments throughout the 2013 season.

Enemkpali started all 12 games for the Bulldogs at right end, compiling 47 total tackles (21 solo, 26 assisted) with 11 tackles for a loss of 43 yards. He registered a team-best 5.5 sacks for a loss of 33 yards and was one of only two defensive linemen in the country to post multiple interceptions this season with two picks returned for 22 yards. Enemkpali, a native of Pflugerville, Texas, led the team with seven QB hurries and was also credited with a pass break-up.

The team was selected based on original nominations from the media relations personnel at the football playing schools in the state of Louisiana. A committee of LSWA members voted for both first and second team selections. Media members could vote for anyone on the ballot while sports information voters could not vote for their own players and had to complete a ballot for their players to be eligible under LSWA rules.
