Former Louisiana Tech golfer Dustin Baker joined the LA Tech staff as a volunteer assistant coach in January 2014.
Baker joins the staff in a volunteer capacity while also serving as an assistant golf professional at Squire Creek Country Club in Choudrant, the Bulldogs' home course.
"We are excited to add Dustin to our staff," Parks said. "He will travel with us to tournaments to help with planning and advice to the guys as we compete. As a former Bulldog, he takes a lot of pride in his alma mater and will instill that in our current student-athletes."
A native of Longview, Texas, Baker graduated in 2009 from Louisiana Tech and earned two letters while competing at LA Tech. He joined the program after two years at Tyler Junior College and went on to average 75.84 in 19 rounds as a Bulldog.
2007-08: Participated in six tournaments during the season for the Bulldogs ... Averaged 75.55 strokes per round, ranking third best on the team ... His best finish was a tie for 23rd at the Squire Creek Invitational in October (71-73-75=219) ... Shot a season-best round of 71 three times.
2006-07: Competed inthe Squire Creek Invitational in October.
Tyler JC: Lettered two years for coach Sandy Terry at Tyler Junior College ... Had three all-tournament finishes during his sophomore season at Tyler JC ... Finished 13th and earned honorable mention All-America honors at the National Junior College Athletic Association tournament ... High School: Lettered four years for coach Stephen LaMore at Spring Hill High School in Texas ... Helped lead the Panthers to the state 3A tournament all four years ... Won the district and regional tournaments as a senior ... Named first team all-state as a junior and senior.
