HOUSTON - While the third-ranked Texas Longhorns pulled away from the rest of the field, the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs played toe-to-toe with five other Top 50 ranked teams as head coach Jeff Parks team moved up to fifth place following the second round of the 2013 Bayou City Collegiate Championships held at Redstone Golf Course.
The Bulldogs shot a second-round team total of one-under-par 287 to move up two places in the highly-competitive 15-team field as LA Tech is two-over-par through the first 36 holes. Texas is alone atop the leaderboard at 17-under-par (559) followed by Baylor (572), Charlotte (574), Houston (576), LA Tech (578), South Carolina (580), UT-Chattanooga (580), East Carolina (585), Lamar (587), UTSA (588), New Mexico State (588), UT Arlington (589), Houston Baptist (590), Indiana (593) and Rice (610).
"It was great seeing us have such a solid team round," said Tech head coach Jeff Parks. "This is how we know we can play each and every day. It's a matter of going out on the course and executing. We did that today. I want to see us follow it up with another round like this on Sunday."
Through two rounds Lange is Tech's top competitor as the freshman stands in a tie for 11th place with a 36-hole total of two-under-par 142. Forgan is also in the top 20 on the individual leader board with a two-round total of one-under-par 143, tied for 14th. Wilmore (145, T27th), Robinson (151, T58th) and Lempke (153, T68th) head into Sunday's final round still maneuvering on the 85-person leader board.
