SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Travis Wilmore shot a stellar 7-under-par 137 (68-69=137) over two rounds Monday to enter the final round of the Lone Star Invitational tied for the lead at Briggs Ranch Golf Club in San Antonio.
Wilmore is tied with New Mexico’s Victor Perez, a player ranked 60th in the country. His two rounds marked the most consistent performance of a Bulldog squad that got off to a slow start but excelled in the final round of Monday’s 36-hole, two-round day.
The Bulldogs enter Tuesday’s final round tied for seventh with Central Arkansas, North Texas and host UTSA in the 15-team field. No. 20 New Mexico has a commanding lead at 13-under-par while No. 38 Purdue follows at 4-under-par.
Wilmore was joined by Jack Lempke in posting sub-par round on Monday as Lempke shot 3-under-par in the second round after shooting 6-over-par in the first round. He enters Tuesday’s play tied for 38th at 3-over-par overall.
Victor Lange is just ahead of Lempke at tied for 34th after a 2-over-par score shooting even-par in the opening round and going 2-over-par in the second round.
