SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Louisiana Tech shot 17-over-par over the final 18 holes as the Bulldogs dropped to 14th as action concluded at the Lone Star Invitational at Briggs Ranch Golf Club in San Antonio Tuesday.
Louisiana Tech finished two shots behind Notre Dame in the final standings of a tournament that served as a regional preview for several teams. The Bulldogs faced one of their toughest fields of the season with three teams ranked in the top 40 competing including tournament champion No. 20 New Mexico.
Overall, LA Tech finished 24-over-par 888 (298-285-305=888) in the three-round tournament.
Travis Wilmore, who entered the final round tied for first after a pair of sub-par rounds, could not sustain that success over the last 18 holes as she shot 6-over-par and finished tied for 14th overall at 1-under-par (68-69-78=215).
Victor Lange and Jack Lempke shot the best round for the Bulldogs on the final day at 2-over-par 74. Lange tied for 30th overall at 4-over-par (72-74-74=220) while Lempke was tied for 43rd at 5-over-par (78-69-74=221).
LA Tech returns to the course on April 8 when the Bulldogs will compete at the Old Waverly Collegiate Championships in West Point, Miss. in a tournament hosted by Mississippi State.
