Louisiana Tech head coach Jeff Jenkins

Opening statement:
“I think the guys did a great job today. It was our best round of the week. I talked to them about playing to the finish line. I talked to the seniors about how proud I was of them in giving their all to the very end. We are going to really miss those guys. They should be proud of themselves for what they have done this week, but also over their entire time at Louisiana Tech. It is bittersweet. Overall for the week, I think these guys have set the standard for Louisiana Tech Golf. I think you could argue they are one of the best teams we have ever had. That is the thing I have been saying to these guys. I want to say thank you to them for what they have done. It was not the week we were hoping for, but at the end of the day it was an incredible experience for all of them and we are going to be the better for it.”

On Victor Lange:
“It is one more testament to how great of a player he is and how he will always play until the end for you. It was the round of the week. He was seven under through 11. He dropped a few, but finished with two birdies in the last four holes. I know he was in contention at one point to make the national championship as an individual. I am really excited for him. The guys are really excited for him. It was certainly something he will be able to draw on for the rest of his career. He has done it now twice in the last two tournaments. He made a 65 in a round at conference and now a 65 at the regional.”

On the future of LA Tech Golf:
“We graduate three seniors, but you look to the future and what Jacob Wyatt and Luke Neeley have done for us here and at conference. I am really excited for Jacob. He finished 25th or so this week as a true freshman against some of the best golfers in the country. It was a huge accomplishment for him and I am really proud and excited for him. Having a freshman and a sophomore in the lineup I think is something they can share with our new guys next year. I think this is going to make them that much hungrier to get back here. They will get after it this summer and will bring it for the 2016-17 season.”

On finishing the season strong:
“I have been trying to instill that since I got here. For me as a player, that was something I took pride in. Now I am trying to instill in our guys that no matter what the scoreboard says, you play to the finish line. Some of the rounds we played, some of the tournaments we had this spring, were great and it was regional team worthy. We were top-50 golf at times. That is the standard we are setting now at Louisiana Tech. Those guys showed it at times and obviously showed it at conference. Even this week did not go quite as well as we had hoped, we were very competitive at times. Really, it was just a few stretches of holes here and there in round one and today. Other than those stretches, we could have been right there. I am really excited about the positive things I saw this spring and the conference championship. That speaks for itself. I am really looking forward to supporting our seniors as they turn towards their professional and looking forward to the three freshman coming in next fall and having our returners come back to try to do this again and maybe go further.”

Senior Victor Lange

On round three:
“It was an awesome day. I think 65 was the lowest round of the tournament. It was a fantastic day really. It is a shame I did not play my best the first two rounds, but I made up for it this last round. I am extremely pleased that I could finish my college career off this way.”

“My goal was to shoot 63. I was really close. I had two holes that kind of got away from me, made two bogeys. If it was not for those two, I could have had that 63. Overall, I cannot say anything bad about this round. Today’s round was absolutely flawless.”

On feeling a low score coming:
“I was feeling good this morning. I knew I was going to shoot a low one, even on the range. I know myself. I know when I am going to play well. I got the start that I wanted. I went birdie-birdie. I did not really put a limit on things. I just tried to go as low as possible.”

On being close to qualifying for national championship:
“I had no idea. I knew I had to shoot extremely low. This morning I was thinking a 63 or something like that could do it. I was not thinking about it to be honest. I was just trying to shoot as good of a last round of my college career as I could. It ended up with only one kid beating me that is going to go to nationals. It was a good effort.”

On finishing college career strong:
“I am and I was. I am really happy that I could do it in a bit of a dramatic fashion. I had a great time playing my best.”

On his college career:
“From the very first time I came over. I had never been to America before. I just came to college to play golf. I could not have asked for anything more to be honest. I made so many friends in Ruston that I am never going to lose contact with. I will be lifelong friends with some of the people I have met. It was an awesome time of my life. They say college is the best years of your life and I can see why they say that. Louisiana Tech is awesome. I am extremely pleased with how I played. I came here to make history and I did.”

On being able to play regionals as a team:
“It was fantastic. When we won conference, I knew it was going to be so much more fun as a team and it really was. We all had a great time this week. I know we didn’t exactly accomplish what we wanted to this week, but it was definitely a step in the right direction. We have set a new standard for Louisiana Tech and I am sure the guys will continue to improve the program. It was an awesome week all around.”

On where the program is going forward:
“We have some really good freshman at the moment. Jacob Wyatt played awesome this week. He was ahead of me the whole week until today. I am really proud of him. He played great and I expect good things out of him. We are also getting good players in next year. I think the program is in a great spot.”
