BATON ROUGE, La. - Victor Lange shot a team-best 3-under-par 69 in the final round Saturday and posted a team-best 223 over three rounds in leading Louisiana Tech to an eighth place finish at the David Toms Intercollegiate in Baton Rouge.
Lange trimmed 10 strokes off his score from the first round in leading the Bulldogs to within two strokes of host LSU in the tournament. The 54-hole tournament was played over two days with two rounds (36 holes) played on Saturday and the final round of 18 holes on Sunday.
"Victor [Lange] played today, as did Ben Robinson," said LA Tech head coach Jeff Parks. "We beat a few teams and did better than we did in the first tournament. Now we return home to prepare for our home tournament in two weeks. It was a challenging tournament with tough weather conditions as a tropical storm moved in but it was a good learning experience for our team and we will be better because of it."
Overall, Lange finished tied for 21st as he shot 7-over-par 223 (79-75-69=223) over the three rounds. Travis Wilmore shot a 9-over-par (76-72-77=225) to finish tied for 29th as his second round score of 72 matched Chuck Spears opening round score for the second-best round of the tournament for Tech.
Robinson placed tied for 32nd overall after shooting 78-74-75=227 while senior Jack Lempke's score of 229 (75-76-78, 13-over-par) placed him tied for 40th with Spears (72-80-77=229).
