KENNESAW, Georgia - Sam Forgan and Ben Robinson both shot red numbers during one round of the opening 36 holes of the Pinetree Intercollegiate to lead Louisiana Tech during the first day of the 12-team event held at Pinetree Country Club.
Forgan opened the event with a three-over-par 75 before coming back to fire a two-under-par 70 in the afternoon as the senior currently sits in a tie for third place among the 72 competitors heading into Tuesday's final round.
Robinson started the competition strong with a two-under-par 70 during the morning round but then struggled in the afternoon with a four-over-par 76. The freshman is currently tied for sixth place.
As a team, Tech is in fourth place with a two-round team total of 597 (300-297) as the Bulldogs trail Kennesaw State which leads the competition with an impressive 36 hole total of 571. Ball State (583), Middle Tennessee (593), Tech (597), Troy (601), Jacksonville (607), Florida Gulf Coast (607), South Alabama (608), Samford (609), Northern Illinois (625), Gardner-Webb (626) and Marquette (628) round out the team standings.
Travis Wilmore shot a 152 (77-75) and sits in 30th place while Jack Lempke (78-76=154) is tied for 39th and Victor Lange (79-77=156) is tied for 43rd. Chandler Vilcheck competed as an individual and sits in 71st place following a total of 166 (86-80).
Kennesaw State's Jimmy Beck leads the individual competition at 137, which included a second round 65, while teammate Ben Greene is in second with a 143.
