IRVING, Texas - Louisiana Tech sophomore Victor Lange and Rice freshman Kevin Reilly have been named the Conference USA co-Golfers of the Week following solid performances at the Bayou City Collegiate Championship.
Co-Men's Golfer of the Week - Victor Lange, Louisiana Tech, So., Johannesburg, South Africa
Lange shot 7-under-par (71-67-71=209) at the Bayou City Collegiate Championship to finish in a tie for second. On Saturday, he shot a 5-under-par 67 marking the second-best round for any player in that tournament to that point. His 67 score on the second day marked a career-low round for the sophomore from Johannesburg, South Africa, and also marked the best round of any Conference USA golfer this week. With his second-place finish, Lange was named to the All-Tournament Team. Lange's best hole of the tournament came on the par-5 hole No. 8 where he shot 5-under for the tournament as he eagled the hole on Saturday and Sunday (birdied Friday). This is the first Conference USA weekly honor of Lange's career.
Co-Men's Golfer of the Week - Kevin Reilly, Rice, Fr., Oviedo, Fla.
Reilly led the Owls throughout the final two rounds of play at the Bayou City Collegiate Championship, finishing in ninth place with a 4-under 211 (71-71-69). The rookie carded 10 birdies over 54 holes, including four in Sunday's final round. His 39 pars ranked in the top 10 of the strong national field, and he posted a cumulative four-under on the event's par fives. Reilly leads Rice with a 72.44 stroke average on the season and this week's event was his third top-10 finish of the 2013-14 campaign. The Owls, who placed sixth overall, finished ahead of No. 14 USF and all three competing C-USA teams at the event (Charlotte, Louisiana Tech, UTSA). This is the first Golfer of the Week honor of Reilly's career.
