Tech Golfers To Play In Moe O'Brien Memorial
Louisiana Tech hopes to hit the links for the first time this Spring as the Bulldogs play in the 48th renewal of the Moe O'Brien Memorial intercollegiate golf tournament here Monday and Tuesday.
Tech was scheduled to open the Spring season last week but the Southeast Louisiana Beau Chene Collegiate Classic tournament in Covington, La., was rained out.
Players are slated to tee off with an 8 a.m. shotgun start for Monday and play 36 holes over the par 72 Lake Charles Country Club layout. The event will end with 18 more holes on Tuesday.
McNeese State won last year's O'Brien Memorial tournament.
The top rated player in the field will be Navy's Billy Hurley who is ranked No. 7 in the country by Golf Stats.
Besides Louisiana Tech, McNeese and Navy, other teams in the field will be New Orleans, Nicholls State, Oklahoma Christian, Northeastern Okla. State, Tulane, West Texas A&M, Newman, Centenary and Sam Houston State.
