Busby Leads Tech Golfers in First Day of Moe O'Brien
RUSTON - Louisiana Tech shot an opening day, 36-hole total of 608 and sits in 12th place heading into Tuesday's final round of the Moe O'Brien Invitational at Lake Charles Country Club.
Head Coach Tom Stinson's Bulldogs shot a team total of 306 in the first 18 holes Monday followed by a 302 in the 13 team tournament hosted by McNeese State University.
Freshman Derek Busby led Tech, shooting 76-73=149, and the former Tallulah Academy prep star is currently in a tie for 17th place individually heading into Tuesday's final round. Other totals for the Bulldogs include Halli Heimisson's 150, Chase Hemperley's 152, Logan Reister's 158 and Chaz Cobb's 159.
McNeese State leads the tournament with a team total of 578 followed by Louisiana-Monroe (582) and Southwest Texas (587). UL-Monroe's Tim Kunick tops the individual leader board with an opening day total of 137.
