CHOUDRANT, La. - Louisiana Tech will host the Argent Financial Classic Sunday through Tuesday at Squire Creek Country Club as the Bulldog golf team looks for its first team victory of the spring season.
The nine-team event will include 98th ranked Jacksonville State, 75th ranked LA Tech, 20th ranked LSU, 46th ranked Middle Tennessee, 122nd ranked Missouri State, 209th ranked Rice, 112th ranked Southern Miss, 106th ranked UALR and 113th ranked UTSA. The tournament will be comprised of 54 holes with one round scheduled for all three days.
"The weather is looking rough for this tournament," said Tech head coach Jeff Parks. "I hope we will be able to play in between thunder storms.
"The guys know we need to play well to keep our goal of playing at regionals in reach. This is a very competitive field of teams and we are looking forward to playing on our home course. It should be a great 54 holes of golf."
The forecast is calling for heavy rains on Sunday but the extended forecast for Monday and Tuesday calls for more favorable playing conditions.
All eight members of the Bulldog team will compete in the event with LA Tech's five-man team being comprised of Cody Blankenship, Sam Forgan, Travis Wilmore, Patrick Blunt and Cody Santone. Jonathan Bale, Jack Lempke and Chandler Vilcheck will all play as individuals.
"I appreciate Kyle McDonald and Argent Financial's unwavering support of our golf program," Parks said.
Live scoring will be available for the entire event and can be accessed at www.golfstat.com.
