Bulldog Golfers Improve Drastically in First Two Rounds at Chenal Cup

RUSTON - Although the Louisiana Tech golf team currently sits in 16th place at after the first day of the Chenal Trojan Cup golf tournament, head coach Tom Stinson's squad made a 27-stroke improvement from round one to round two.

Tech shot an opening round team total of 320 at the Chenal Country Club before coming back in the afternoon session to shoot a 293 as all five Bulldog golfers improved from the first 18 holes to the second.

Junior Halli Heimisson led Tech with a 36-hole total of 150 to sit in a tie for 35th place, shooting an opening round 80 before coming back with a 70. Chase Hemperley is in a tie for 43rd after day one with a 151 (81-70), while Derek Busby (79-76=155) is in 66th place, Logan Reister (81-77=158) in 75th place and Chad Carter (80-79-159) in 80th place.

Arkansas-Little Rock leads the tournament with a team total of 575 followed by South Alabama (580), Southern Mississippi (582), Denver (583) and Southeastern Louisiana (585).

The 18-team tournament will wrap up with 18 holes Tuesday morning.
