Smith Leads Tech Golfers At Cobb/Ferrell Mean Green Classic

Preston Smith's two-round score of 141 helped Louisiana Tech to a seventh-place tie Monday through two rounds of the Cobb/Ferrell Mean Green Classic at Lantana Country Club in Denton, Texas.

A final round will be played Tuesday morning.

Smith shot a 73 and 68 to finish the day in a tie for first at 141. That finish helped Tech close out the two rounds at 596 with an opening round of 295 and a second round of 301.

North Texas led the tourney after two rounds, followed by Stephen F. Austin, Houston, Arkansas-Little Rock, Arkansas State and Middle Tennessee with Tech tying Sam Houston State and Texas-San Antonio for seventh place.
