Oct. 5, 2017
RUSTON – After a two week hiatus from competition, the Louisiana Tech golf team makes its way south this weekend to compete in the David Toms Intercollegiate hosted by LSU at the University Club.
The Bulldogs join Central Arkansas, McNeese State, Navy, New Orleans, Nicholls State, North Texas, Oral Roberts, Penn, Southeastern Louisiana, Southern Illinois, Lynn College and the host Tigers in the 13-team field.
Due to the threat of thunderstorms on Sunday, competition has been moved up a day. The tournament begins Friday afternoon with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. The second and third rounds will begin Saturday at 8:30 a.m. The teams will compete at the University Club, a par 72, 7,220-yard course.
The event is the third this fall for head coach Matt Terry and Co. as the Bulldogs hosted the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate and competed in the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Tech will be represented at this weekend’s event by Joacim Ahlund, Felix Paalson, Karsten Green, Ryan Alford, and Hayden Frederick while Nick Daniel will compete as an individual. Paalson carries a 72.33 scoring average into the weekend while Ahlund is right behind him at 73.50.
The Bulldogs will be paired with LSU and North Texas during Friday’s opening round. LA Tech finished fifth at last year’s event.
