RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech will host its annual fall golf tournament – the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate – beginning Monday in a two-day, three-round tournament at Squire Creek Country Club in Choudrant.
Louisiana Tech will highlight a 12-team field that also includes two members of Conference USA – North Texas and Southern Miss. Other teams competing include Central Arkansas, Houston Baptist, McNeese State, Missouri State, New Orleans, Nicholls State, Southeastern Louisiana, Stephen F. Austin and UALR.
The five players representing Tech in the tournament will be Ben Robinson, Travis Wilmore, Chuck Spears, Victor Lange and Jack Lempke. Lange leads the team with a 74.8 round average this season with a low round of 69.
“We have had a good week of qualifying,” head coach Jeff Parks said. “We shot way under par compared to the previous qualifying rounds. It might affect our expectations but I prefer having the confidence going into the tournament than the other way around.”
Lempke is one of the seniors leading the Bulldogs in the tournament and played well in the team’s qualifying rounds, hitting his fourth career hole-in-one on hole No. 5.
“Squire Creek is in incredible shape, as it always is,” said Parks. “We are really looking forward to playing in our home event on our home course and hope to see lots of fans come support us.”
The teams will play two rounds on Monday beginning at 8 a.m. with a single round being played at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
