Fall Beach Classic Proves Tough For Tech Golfers

A tough second-round showing knocked Louisiana Tech back to 11th place heading into Tuesday?s final round of the South Alabama Fall Beach Golf Classic in Gulf Shores, Ala.

The Bulldogs shot a 302 in the first round with four of five Bulldogs shooting in the 70s. But Tech only managed a 314 in Monday?s second round to end up at 616 heading into the final round.

Louisville and Southern Mississippi are tied for the tourney lead at 576, followed by Louisiana-Monroe (579), Texas-Arlington (585), Davidson (596), South Alabama (598), East Carolina (600), Jacksonville State (604), South Florida (607), Middle Tennessee (609), Tech and Western Kentucky (621).

Junior Derek Busby was the only Bulldog shooting in the 70s in the second round and leads the Bulldogs with a 149 (77-72) for a 23rd-place tie at 149. Tech?s Jason Jenkins is tied for 44th at 155 while teammates Logan Riester and Chad Carter are tied for 48th at 156. Neal Carter wrapped up Tech?s team scoring in 65th place with a 169 while Bulldog Ben Pullin played as a individual and is in 64th place with a 167.
