Tech Posts Three NCAA Regional Marks at LSU Relays
BATON ROUGE, La. - Day one of the LSU Relays saw Louisiana Tech track and field athletes posted three NCAA Regional qualifying times at Bernie Moore Track and Field Stadium.
The majority of the events will be contested on Saturday but preliminary heats in the 100 meters and 100-meter hurdles took place on Friday.
Johnathan Holland ran a time of 10.47 to qualify for the finals with the third fastest time of the day. The mark is a NCAA regional qualifying time.
For the women, Doria Appleberry and Shandra Freeman both posted regional marks.
Appleberry ran a 13.57 in the 100-meter hurdles which is the fastest qualifying time. The senior missed breaking her own school record by .01.
Freeman clocked an 11.67 in the 100 meters which was also a NCAA regional qualifying mark. The time was the third fastest time of the prelims as three Lady Techsters will run in the 100- meter final on Saturday. Donesha Spivey and Latonia Wilson will join Freeman in the final.
The event will conclude on Saturday. The field events start at 11 a.m. with the women?s hammer throw and run until the women?s discus throw at 5 p.m.
For the running events, the women?s 400-meter relay will be at 2:30 p.m. and the final event of the day will be the men?s 1,600-meter relay at 6:35 p.m.
