Tech Heads Up to Fayetteville for Saturday Meet

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Louisiana Tech will continue its stretch of nationally prestigious meets this weekend with the John McDonnell Invitational on the campus of the University of Arkansas.

"We're certainly excited to be running in this meet," Tech head coach Gary Stanley said. "This is where the NCAA Mideast Regionals will be held this year and where we will have some athletes competing. We're hoping the kids can put some good results up."

Last weekend, freshman Chasidee Lewis finished with an NCAA Regional Mark with a time of 11.56 seconds in the women's 100 meter dash, while in the women's shot put, junior Nadia Alexander took a first place finish with a throw of 51 feet, 11.25 inches to improve her NCAA Regional Mark by nearly eight inches and moved to the top of the conference. For their efforts, the duo was awarded WAC Athlete of the Week honors.

Sophomore Al Fullwood finished second in the men's 400 with a time of 47.12 for the final NCAA Regional Mark for the day for Tech.

Junior Cory Denstel finished second in the men's 1500 at 3:53.65, while junior Michael Coleman took third in the men's 100 at 10.49. Alexander also took a second place finish in the discus with a throw if 146-03, while sophomore Tierah Hall finished second in the women's shot with a 44-10.75.

Junior Antoinette Cobb also took third in the women's 400-hurdles at 1:04.83, while freshman Quatisha Williams finished third in the women's long jump at 18-9.25.

On the relay side, the men's 4x100 finished second at 40.82, while the women's 4x100 took third at 46.50.
