Tech Heads Up for Mideast Regionals

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Louisiana Tech's track and field will not stop at the fourth consecutive WAC Championship.

No, Tech head coach Gary Stanley and crew will be taking a total of 21 student-athletes (including two relay squads for a total of 23) up to the University of Arkansas for the NCAA Mideast Regionals Friday, May 30, in an attempt to qualify as many as possible for the national meet in June.

"We're thrilled to have our largest number ever competing," Stanley said. "We're very hopeful we're going to have several individuals and relays qualify for the national championships."

Tech's 23 athletes is the second-highest total in the state behind only LSU.

The Techsters won their fourth women's WAC title in a row two weeks ago, while the men placed third and were in the hunt for their first WAC championship.

Tech will compete both Friday and Saturday.
