Tech Cross Country Finshed 21st at Chile Pepper Invitational
FAYETTEVILLE-- The Bulldogs’ three-meet winning streak was broken today at the Chile Pepper Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., by finishing 21st out of 35 teams.
“I think we ran too conservatively,” head coach Gary Stanley said. “We’ve never run a 10k before, and I don’t think the guys knew what to do with that distance.”
Tim Marshall led the way for Tech with a time of 31 minutes, 34.1 seconds for a 59th place finish.. Kinsey Dinnel finished less than a second behind him at 31:34.9 for 61st.
“This was the biggest race in the country this weekend,” Stanley said. “It was longer than any we’ve run so far.”
The Bulldogs will return to action Oct. 29 for the WAC Championships in Boise, Idaho.
“Two WAC teams (Boise State and New Mexico State) were at the meet today,” Stanley said, “and we beat them both. Still, we’re going to have to run a lot better. But for now, we’re going to keep them healthy and keep them running.”
