Former Ruston High School prep star and Northwestern State letter-winner Chelsea Rogers enters her second year as a member of the Louisiana Tech staff as the Director of Player Development.
"I had the privilege of coaching Chelsea and watching her selfless actions on and off the court for two years during her collegiate career," Stoehr said. "Chelsea is one of the best teammates I have ever been around. She has the ability to perform very well in high pressure situations and the skill set to make everyone around her better. It's wonderful to see her mentor our students and challenge them to give their best each day on the court, in the classroom and in the community."
After playing at Ruston High School, Rogers spent her first two years at Jacksonville (Texas) College where she played basketball while earning her Associate of Science degree with a 3.8 grade point average.
She then signed at Northwestern State, earning both Dean's List and President's list honors while earning her bachelor of psychology degree. On the court, she started all but three games during her two years in Natchitoches, hitting 118 career three-pointers and helping lead the Demons to back-to-back Southland Conference Tournament titles and NCAA Tournament appearances.
After graduating from NSU, Rogers spent the past year teaching at Ruston High School while serving as an assistant coach at Arcadia High School. The Lady Hornets captured the state championship.
Rogers' responsibilities include serving as a mentor to the student-athletes, coordinating team community service efforts, assisting with team travel and team planning, assisting with daily office operations and helping organize and run summer camps.
"Chelsea is an integral part of what we're trying to build," Stoehr said. "She understands my expectations and will be able to share those expectations and experiences with our students. Chelsea has lifelong relationships in Ruston and is well respected. She is a tremendous representative of our program and Louisiana Tech."
