Former Northwestern State men's DOBO comes to Ruston
Long came to Ruston after spending one year as an assistant coach at Ouachita High School where he was part of the staff that helped guide the Lions to a semifinal appearance in the Top 28 Tournament.
Stoehr's relationship with Long began during their time at Northwestern State where Long served as the direction of basketball operations and video coordinator for the men's program.
"I was able to watch Nick work for three years and handle a myriad of responsibilities with great attention to detail," said Stoehr. "He gained valuable experience from one of the best in former Bulldog Mike McConathy, and he understands how to handle the daily operations of the program. He allows our staff to maximize our time with our current and future student athletes."
During his time at Northwestern State, Long assisted with film breakdown, academic study hall, daily practice schedules, equipment oversight and summer camps.
Long earned his bachelor of science in teaching from UL-Monroe in May of 2012 and completed his master's degree in sports administration from Northwestern State in 2014.
Long married the former Emory Clayborn in July.
