Techsters Seek Historic Ruston Win Thursday Night

RUSTON - When Louisiana Tech takes the court Thursday night at 7 p.m. to host Texas State in Western Athletic Conference action, the Lady Techsters will be competing for a milestone victory at the Thomas Assembly Center.

Head coach Teresa Weatherspoon and Co. will be playing for win No. 500 all-time in Ruston as the storied program has won 499 games at home since its inception in 1974. The Lady Techster program recorded 84 wins at old Memorial Gym from 1974 through 1981 and tallied an additional 415 victories at the Thomas Assembly Center since its opening in December of 1981.

Lady Techster teams have amassed an incredible 499-53 all-time record in Ruston for a winning percentage of 90.4 percent which ranks it as the second toughest place in the country to play in women's basketball behind only Knoxville, Tennessee.

As part of what could be a historic night for the program, all fans attending the contest can participate in "Techster 500 Trivia" as prizes will be awarded for correct answers to questions pertaining to some of the greatest moments during some of these wins.

Also, one lucky Louisiana Tech student will win a $500 cash prize from a random drawing which will take place during the media timeout under the eight-minute mark of the second half. Tech students entering the TAC doors through the student entrance will receive a ticket stub and the student whose number is drawn will receive the cash prize (winner must be present). Tickets will only be handed out from 5:30 to 7:15 p.m. gameday at the Tech student entrance.
