RUSTON - Louisiana Tech freshman JaQuan Jackson earned her third Conference USA Freshman of the Week award today after her performance in the Lady Techsters 71-50 win over UTSA Saturday.
Jackson picked up the honor after scoring 22 points and grabbing a career-high tying six rebounds in the victory. The Killeen, Texas native hit 8-of-13 field goals, 4-of-5 three-pointers and 2-of-2 free throws while also recording one assist and one block.
For the season, Jackson is averaging 11.9 points per game and is the only freshman ranked in the Top 30 in scoring in Conference USA. Jackson also ranks among the league leaders in three-pointers made per game and three-point field goal percentage.
Jackson needs only 12 more three-pointers made to break Tamicha Jackson's freshman record of 48.
The Lady Techsters return to action Wednesday when they travel to face UTEP at 8 p.m. at the Don Haskins Center.
