RUSTON - Louisiana Tech will return to action Saturday when the Lady Techsters host Idaho at 7 p.m. at the Thomas Assembly Center in March of Dimes Night.
LA Tech looks to snap at two-game losing streak after the Lady Techsters (11-13, 7-6 WAC) fell 87-74 to Seattle Thursday night. Tech allowed the Redhawks to shoot 52 percent from the field in the game.
Idaho enters the game in Ruston still looking for its first ever victory over LA Tech. The Vandals (12-13, 9-5) had the Lady Techsters on the ropes in Moscow back on Jan. 17 when they held a 20-point second half lead before LA Tech fought back to win 67-58.
The Vandals enter the game after falling at UT Arlington 60-58 Thursday.
"Idaho is a very good basketball team," said Tech head coach Teresa Weatherspoon. "They are a great shooting team. If we allow 50 percent shooting from the field again, we will be in major trouble. We will have to go back to the drawing board and find five people with great energy on the defensive end. That's where we have to get it done."
Idaho leads the Western Athletic Conference in three-point field goals as the Vandals have hit 214 on the year while shooting a league-best 34 percent from beyond the arc. Idaho boasts six different players who have hit 17 or more threes this season, including team leader Christina Salvatore who is 75-of-218 on the year.
Alyssa Charlston (14.3 ppg, 7.7 rpg) leads Idaho offensively while Salvatore (11.6 ppg) and Stacey Barr (9.1 ppg, 41-139 three-pointers) are the Vandals other two main offensive weapons.
LA Tech will continue to rely upon its top four offensive players in Kelia Shelton (14.2 ppg, 6.8 rpg), Brittany Lewis (11.1 ppg, 5.9 rpg), Whitney Frazier (10.7 ppg, 5.7 rpg) and Lulu Perry (10.3 ppg, 3.5 rpg). The Lady Techsters will need to cut down on turnovers where as a team Tech is committing more than 19 per game.
Other promotions include free pizza for LA Tech students, the Franke "Dress for Success" Shootout ($100), the Raising Cane's Challenge, the Hill Oil-Green Clinic "Shoot for a Cure" contest ($25,000), and performances by the LA Tech Regal Blues.
The contest can be heard on the LA Tech Sports Network with the pregame show beginning at 6:30 p.m. Fans can also access a live video feed of the game through a paid subscription to LA Tech All-Access at www.LATechSports.com. In-game Twitter updates can also be obtained by following @LATechWBB.
