RUSTON – Louisiana Tech sophomore Whitney Frazier was rewarded for her impressive week as the El Dorado native was named the Louisiana Sports Writers Association State Player of the Week on Monday.
She joined LSU forward Johnny O’Bryant who won the honor on the men’s side.
Frazier won the award after averaging 18.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in the Lady Techsters two Western Athletic Conference games while shooting 47 percent from the field, 70 percent from the free throw line and 2-of-5 from the three-point line.
The 6-foot forward hit her third game-winning bucket of the season as her three-pointer with .2 seconds to play lifted the Lady Techsters to a 64-62 victory over Idaho Saturday night. Frazier also made the game-winning shots against McNeese State and Oral Roberts this year.
The shot capped off a 17-point, 9-rebound performance against the Vandals, keeping LA Tech perfect streak against Idaho intact.
In the Lady Techsters loss to Seattle Thursday night, Frazier led Tech with 20 points and six boards.
