Malone, Anthony Earn All-Conference Honors

RUSTON, La. -- After leading Louisiana Tech to its most wins since 2010-11 and its highest conference tournament seeding since 2012-13, senior Alexus Malone and junior Kierra Anthony earned all-Conference USA honors in a vote of the league coaches and SIDs.
Malone was one of eight first team all-Conference USA honorees while Anthony earned second team honors for the second straight season.
"I am very proud of Alexus and Kierra for being recognized by the league for their play this season," said head coach Brooke Stoehr. "Their individual contributions have helped this team grow and develop throughout the year. Having Alexus and Kierra named to the all-conference team brings notoriety and recognition to our program as we strive to build a championship culture."
Malone averaged 14.2 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.4 assists per game while shooting 50 percent from the field, 75 percent from the free throw line and 10-of-26 from the three-point line. In conference only games, Malone averaged 14.9 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.1 steals and 1.6 assists.
The Oxford, Mississippi, native recorded 20 double digit scoring games, 11 double digit rebounding games and eight double doubles while leading the team in scoring 14 times and in rebounding 23 times.
Anthony averaged 14.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.2 steals per game while shooting 43 percent from the field, 76 percent from the free throw line and 28-of-102 from the three-point line. In league only play, she averaged 15.3 points, 4.1 assists, 3.2 assists and 2.1 steals per game.
The New Iberia, Louisiana, native registered 23 double digit scoring games while leading the Lady Techsters in scoring 10 times. She recorded a team-high six 20-plus point performances, including a career-high 30 in the season finale victory at Rice.
Malone was joined on the first team by Laia Raventos (Charlotte), Terriell Bradley (North Texas), Erica Ogwumike (Rice), Rachael Childress (UAB), Deanna Kuzmanic (UAB), Ivy Brown (WKU) and Tashia Brown (WKU).
Anthony was joined on the second team by Nyilah Jamison-Myers (Charlotte), Sasha Cedeno (Florida Atlantic), Shayna Gore (Marshall), Alex Johnson (Middle Tennessee), Nicole Iademarco (Rice), Jayla King (Southern Miss), Miyah Barnes (UAB), Tamara Seda (UTEP).
Malone and Anthony will lead the Lady Techsters into this week's Conference USA Tournament in Frisco, Texas.
