RUSTON - Louisiana Tech will enter the 2014 Conference USA Tournament in El Paso as the No. 14 seed and will face the No. 11 seed North Texas Tuesday at 6 p.m. CT (5 p.m. MT) at Memorial Gym.
The Lady Techsters (10-19, 5-11 C-USA) enter the five-day, 16-team event on a two-game winning streak after defeating North Texas (67-54) and FIU (67-65), the latter victory coming Wednesday night when Tech overcame a 12-point second half deficit.
All 16 teams qualify for the C-USA Tournament with the top four seeds earning a double bye and seeds 5 through 8 earning a single bye. Other first round match-ups Tuesday include Florida Atlantic vs. Marshall (12 p.m.), Rice vs. FIU (2:30 p.m.) and Tulsa vs. UTSA (8:30 p.m.).
With a win over North Texas in the first round, Tech would advance to face the No. 6 seed on Wednesday. However, seeds 6 through 8 have not been determined yet as Charlotte and UAB still have one regular season game to play Friday night. The outcome of that contest will determine those three seeds between the Blazers, the 49ers and Old Dominion.
The Lady Techsters first round game against North Texas can be heard on the LA Tech Sports Network on ESPN 97.7 FM with the pregame show starting at 5:30 p.m.
The C-USA Digital Network will offer exclusive streaming coverage of its men's and women's basketball championships. The Digital Network will show a total of 23 live games as well as provide press conferences and feature stories throughout the week-long event.
Live online streaming will begin with first round games on Tuesday, March 11, with three men's games and four women's games. A total of eight second round games on Wednesday and another eight quarterfinals on Thursday will be available.
Due to programming restrictions, the semifinals and title games will not be streamed. The men's championship final on March 15 will be broadcast on CBS at 11:30 a.m. ET, while CBS Sports Network will air the C-USA women's final and both men's and women's semifinals games on Friday, March 14.
