@LATechSBB Adds Arkansas Guard

April 18, 2018

RUSTON – Louisiana Tech head coach Brooke Stoehr announced Wednesday that Lonoke High School guard Keiunna Walker signed a national letter of intent to continue her basketball career with the Lady Techsters.

“We are excited to welcome Keiunna to the Louisiana Tech family,” said Stoehr. “Her athleticism and ability to create off the dribble will bring added depth to the perimeter. Keiunna has a scorer’s mentality with her ability to shoot the three-pointer and penetrate from the perimeter. She has excelled in three sports in high school and will bring a competitive mindset and versatility to the court for the Lady Techsters.”

Walker is a 5-foot-6 perimeter player who played varsity basketball for head coach Heath Swiney and the Jackrabbits the past three years. She averaged 23 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists per game as a senior and score more than 2,000 career points in her prep days at Lonoke.

“Keiunna is a great athlete and a great young lady,” said Swiney. “She has worked hard during both the season and the off-season to improve her basketball skills. She is a well-rounded athlete who can score and defend. She now has a great opportunity to flourish at the college level. I think the sky is the limit for her.”

Walker is a 2-time all-state selection and 3-time all-conference honoree. She was selected to the Arkansas Basketball Coaches Association Starting Five in Class 4A and named to the all-state tournament team. She also lettered in volleyball and track and field and was the Arkansas Class 4A state champion in the triple jump in 2017.

“I chose Louisiana Tech because I really love the coaches,” said Walker. “It’s close to home and not too far away so my family can come watch me. Not a lot of people from Lonoke get an opportunity to play at this level. I’m just ready to meet my new teammates.”

Walker joins Arcadia High School forward DeAndre’a Alexander and Blount (Ala.) High School forward Brianna Harris who both signed their NLIs during the early period.
