Techsters Win Awards at Banquet

RUSTON – Former Kodak All-American Angela Turner returned to her alma mater Thursday night as the featured speaker at the annual Louisiana Tech Lady Techster Basketball Banquet.

Turner – who led Tech to four straight Final Fours and the program’s first two national championship titles – quickly gained the entire crowd’s undivided attention as she spoke of memories of her and many of her former teammates and what it means to be a Lady Techster.

Tech head coach Chris Long was appreciative of Turner’s words.

“Angela that is exactly what I think we all needed to hear,” Long said following her remarks. “It was the perfect message. Thank you so much for coming back here and being a part of tonight.”

Following Turner’s remarks, Long announced the end of the year awards which included the MVP (Ty Moore), Offensive Award (Shan Moore), Defensive Award (Amber Metoyer), Rebounding Award (Jo Sneed), Most Improved Award (Shanavia Dowdell), Academic Award (Tiawana Pringle) and Lady Techster Award (April Williams).
