Tyler Summitt Summer Camps Set for June

April 27, 2015

RUSTON - Louisiana Tech head coach Tyler Summitt made an impact on the Lady Techster program and the Ruston community during his inaugural season on the sideline.

And this summer he hopes to make an impact on young ladies who have a desire to learn more about the game of basketball by attending the Tyler Summitt Summer Basketball Camps.

Summitt, the son of legendary Hall of Fame Tennessee coach Pat Summitt, will hold a Team Camp (June 12-13), Elite Camp (June 14) and Day Camp (June 15-18) for young girls of all ages.

The Team Camp (June 12-13) is open to middle school teams, high school (JV, varsity) teams and AAU teams and is a high-intensity camp for committed programs that want to elevate their level of play. It's also an opportunity for players who aspire to play collegiate basketball one day or for those who just want to have fun playing some tough competition in the history-filled Thomas Assembly Center.

Cost of the Team Camp is $375 per team with a guarantee of four full-court games of pool play over the course of the two days. Registration deadline for Team Camp is June 8.

The Elite Camp (June 14) is for all girls entering grades 9 through 12. This camp is will provide intense specialized basketball instruction with an emphasis on the fundamentals of basketball (ball handling, passing, shooting, offensive and defensive positioning, as well as the mental side of the game). Campers will receive position-specific drill instruction from Coach Summitt, the LA Tech coaching staff and the Lady Techsters.

Drills, instruction and competition at this camp are intense and challenging. Campers will also receive information on NCAA recruiting rules and academic standards for eligibility. Cost of the Elite Camp is $45 and the registration deadline is June 14, 2015, at 11 a.m.

Day Camp (June 15-18) is open to all girls entering grades K through 8. This day camp is for young beginners and those new to the game of basketball. Each camper will receive high-quality instruction on the fundamentals of basketball in an enjoyable, positive environment. The coaching staff and players will emphasize individual skills (i.e. shooting, passing, ball handling, defense) and team play.

Cost of this camp is $150 per camper and the registration deadline is June 15 at 8 a.m.

For more information on camp, individuals can call Brenda Milton at 318-257-5511.
