RUSTON - Louisiana Tech's 2012 recruiting class has been ranked 55th best in the country by Dan Olson's Collegiate Girls Basketball Report, which is considered the top service in women's basketball recruiting.
Head coach Teresa Weatherspoon's signees are the top-ranked class in the Western Athletic Conference and the second best class in the state of Louisiana behind only LSU (#12).
Tech's recruiting class includes transfer guard Kelia Shelton (Clemson), junior college guards Brittany Jefferson (Angelina College) and Janay Borum (Palm Beach State College), junior college forward Jasmine Bryant (Southern-Shreveport), high school guard Lulu Perry (Benton HS) and high school forward Veanca Hall (Richwood HS). Five of the six are ranked nationally in their respective positions by Olson's service.
The Lady Techsters class ranks 55 out of 341 Division I programs in 2012, and it was higher than 33 BCS programs, including Florida State, Miami, St. John's, Oklahoma State, Ohio State, Nebraska, California, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Alabama and Arkansas.
Tech's roster will include these six newcomers along with six letter winners from last season as the Lady Techsters will compete for one last year in the revamped Western Athletic Conference.
