RUSTON - Legendary WNBA star and current Louisiana Tech coach Teresa Weatherspoon will hold a number of summer basketball camps for young girls this summer.
The Spoon-Fed Basketball Camps are designed to elevate the skill set and basketball knowledge of young girls of all ages and skill levels and will be held on the campus of Louisiana Tech University.
The Day Camp is for young girls entering grades 2 through 6 and will be held June 4 through the 6 for a cost of $100 per camper. It is designed to introduce the game of basketball to the beginner level players and is open to develop their basketball skills while offering an atmosphere that fosters cooperative learning and enthusiasm. Each camper will receive a camp t-shirt. Deadline to register is June 1.
Team Camp will run June 6 through the 8 as "June Madness" descends on Ruston as some of the premier teams from across the state and region travel to Louisiana Tech for great competition. The camp will be divided into divisions according to classification and competition levels. Teams are guaranteed six games and each team must have a minimum of eight players and its own coach. Cost for the camp is $350.00 per team with a non-refundable $150.00 deposit per team. Cost of camp includes 10 camp t-shirts (additional t-shirts may be purchased for $10 each). Deadline for registration is May 28th as online registrations is required.
The Shootout is a one-day event on June 9 that is designed for area teams as some of the countries brightest and best lace up their shoes inside the legendary Thomas Assembly Center. Teams are guaranteed three games and every game will be officiated by LHSAA trained officials. Every team will have a guaranteed game on Karl Malone court. Meals, lodging and transportation are not included. Online registration required by May 28th, 2012.
Individual camp runs June 10-12 and is designed to help players of all levels develop their skill set and increase their understanding of the game of basketball. Campers will receive instructions from past and present Lady Techster players, high school coaches and the current Lady Techster basketball coaches and staff. Individual camp is open to girls who will be entering 6th-12th grades in the fall of 2012. Each camper will receive a camp T-shirt.
