Oct. 11, 2011

RUSTON – Louisiana Tech basketball fans young and old will have an opportunity to enjoy a night filled with haunts and hoops as the annual Bulldog and Lady Techster Basketball Bonanza will be held this year in conjunction with the 13th annual student athlete sponsored Halloween Carnival.

This year's events are set for Thursday, Oct. 20 at the Thomas Assembly Center as the night will begin at 6 p.m. with the 13th annual Louisiana Tech Studetn-Athlete Advisory Committee's (SAAC) Halloween Carnival which will take place on the concourse of the arena.

The SAAC Halloween Carnival is a free event that is geared towards giving local youngsters a safe environment to dress up in their Halloween costumes as Tech student-athletes and spirit squad members will set up “fun booths” where they will play games and give away free candy.

Starting at 7 p.m. the Bulldogs and Lady Techsters will take turns taking the court as Tech fans will be introduced to the players and coaches for this year’s teams. Each team will have an opportunity to showcase their talents and entertain fans in their own way during their time on Karl Malone Court.

Blue “Basketball Bonanza” t-shirts will be given away to the first 200 Louisiana Tech students in attendance that night while everyone can register at the doors for a $1,000 cash prize that will be awarded at the end of the evening. Jim Robken and the world-renowned Tech Hoop Troop will be in attendance along with performances by the Tech cheerleaders and Regal Blues. Champ and Tech XX will also make an appearance.

Teresa Weatherspoon and the Lady Techsters are coming off a season that saw the program record its second straight NCAA Tournament appearance (27th overall), a Western Athletic Conference regular season title and the 1,000th win in its storied history.

Michael White brings his experience from more than a decade as a player and coach in the Southeastern Conference. White and his staff and players look forward to installing their own brand to Bulldog basketball that includes an up-tempo, defensive pressure, playmaker style of play as they begin building the program into an annual conference contender.

This is an official Louisiana Tech Kids Club event.
