RUSTON - Both the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and Lady Techsters have already begun fall basketball practice and LA Tech fans will get an opportunity to see them in action during the annual Basketball Bonanza set for Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 7:30 p.m. at the Thomas Assembly Center.
The event is free to all Tech fans and will include free popcorn and drinks, free schedule posters and free door prizes.
Head coach Kerry Rupp and head coach Teresa Weatherspoon's teams will both be on hand for the event which will feature 10-minute intra-squad scrimmages by each team as well as a number of skill competitions such as a dunk competition, three-point competition and more.
Both teams are coming off successful seasons as the Bulldogs won 24 games - the most since 1984-85 - and participated in the postseason where they defeated CUSA foe Southern Miss in the first round of the CollegeInsider.Com Tournament.
The Lady Techsters won 23 games, captured the 2010 WAC Tournament title and advanced to the program's 26th NCAA Tournament.
Fans attending the Basketball Bonanza will get an opportunity to meet the players following the event as both teams will remain on the floor to sign autographs.
The evening will begin at 6:45 p.m. with the media basketball game which will feature local media members from around the area that cover Louisiana Tech Athletics.
