RUSTON - Louisiana Tech head coach Teresa Weatherspoon was excited about her 2014 signing class when four high school prep stars signed national letters of intent two weeks ago.
LA Tech received signed NLI's from guards Daja Chase (Monroe, La./Ouachita HS), Tiffany Murdock (Malvern, Ark./Malvern HS) and Candice Williams (Atlanta, Ga./St. Francis HS) and forward Tiara Davenport (Duncanville, Texas/Duncanville HS).
Bret McCormick of All-Star Girls Report agrees with Weatherspoon's assessment as he has ranked the class as the 54th best in the country.
"Davenport is an inside-outside player who can put the ball on the floor," McCormick said in his review. "Murdock is an explosive combo guard who is good off the bounce, and she knows how to score. Williams is a true point guard out of Atlanta who is a smooth player with a good understanding of the game."
The recruiting class could also move up a few positions as the Lady Techsters are expected to add another signee within a few weeks.
Tech's class is the second highest ranked among Conference USA programs, trailing only Old Dominion at No. 43. Other Top 100 C-USA classes include UTEP at No. 68, Florida Atlantic at No. 79 and Middle Tennessee at No. 95.
It is also the second highest ranked class from a non-power conference behind only ODU.
