GameDay Central | Game Notes

RUSTON - Louisiana Tech returns to the court for the first time in 11 days when the Lady Techsters host SEC foe Ole Miss Saturday night at 7 p.m. at the Thomas Assembly Center in its annual Pack the House promotion game.

Tech (1-3) last played on Nov. 20 when it registered a 65-63 victory over Central Arkansas in a game that saw the Lady Techsters overcome a late three-point deficit to win. Ole Miss (4-1) will be playing its first game outside of Oxford as the Rebels first five contests came at home. The Rebels will be playing for the third time in five days after defeating Mississippi Valley (62-60) and Lipscomb (68-46) in their last two outings.

The Rebels are under the direction of acting head coach Brett Frank, who spent the past nine years at Fresno State under Stacey Johnson-Klein and Adrien Wiggins.

"This is a good basketball team," said Tech head coach Teresa Weatherspoon. "They put the ball on the floor very well. The have that Fresno State-style of basketball with the dribble drive and kick back for the three. They get to the rim and do a good job of passing. We will have to defend. We need to value each possession."

Junior guard Diara Moore is the lone double figure scorer for the Rebels, averaging 15.0 points and 4.8 rebounds per game while shooting 37 percent from the field and 24-of-33 from the free throw line. However, Ole Miss has seven more players averaging anywhere from 5.2 points to 9.4 points per game as the Rebels have substituted freely through their first five games of the season.

Ole Miss' only loss of the season came to Lamar by a score of 85-71 while their other two victories are against Southeastern Louisiana (95-85) and Northwestern State (67-51).

Tech boasts three players in double figures as Brittany Lewis (14.0 ppg, 6.8 rpg), Kelia Shelton (13.0 ppg, 5.0 rpg) and Lulu Perry (11.5 ppg) are the Lady Techsters leading scorers. Perry has missed the past two games with an injury and is questionable for the game.

Tech leads the all-time series against Ole Miss 5-1, including a 2-1 mark in games played in Ruston. The Rebels only win in the series came in 1991-92 when the Van Chancellor-led squad defeated Tech 63-60 in the championship game of the Dial Classic.

LA Tech has won four straight in the series, including an 84-71 win over the 24th ranked Rebels in 2005-06 - the last victory by the Lady Techsters over a ranked team.
