RUSTON - One of the nation's top shooting teams will face one of the nation's top defensive teams when Louisiana Tech hosts Tulane Friday at 7 p.m. at the Thomas Assembly Center in an intra-state battle.
Louisiana Tech (2-4) enters the game ranked as one of the best shooting teams in the country as the Lady Techster rank 20th in three-point field goal percentage (38.0 percent) and 21st in overall field goal percentage (45.5 percent).
The Lady Techsters have shot over 42 percent from the field in five of six games this season, including a season-high 58 percent in a win over Old Dominion. Tech faced one of the nation's top statistical defensive teams Seton Hall in the Paradise Jam and. The Pirates entered that game allowing only 48 points per game but the Lady Techsters shot 49 percent and scored 69 points - including 43 in the first half - in that contest.
Tech boasts three players in double figures paced by forward Shantale Bramble-Donaldson (12.5 ppg, 6.7 rpg), guard Jasmine Bendolph (12.2 ppg, 5.2 apg) and guard/forward Kiara Young (10.7 ppg, 5.0 rpg).
Tulane (5-1) enters the contest ranked 11th in the nation in scoring defense (48.8 ppg) and 21st in the country in field goal percentage defense (31.8 percent). They have held four of their six opponents under 50 points thus far this season.
The Green Wave has already won five of its first six games, including a 65-62 overtime victory over LSU two weeks ago in New Orleans. The lone loss of the season was a 61-48 setback against Top 25 Purdue.
Tulane is led by guards Danielle Blagg (11.5 ppg, 13 three-pointers) and Olivia Grayson (11.5 ppg, 6.2 rpg) while 6-foot-3 inch Brett Benzio (8.8 ppg, 8.8 rpg) provides the interior production for the Green Wave.
