RUSTON – Louisiana Tech and ULM will meet for the 55th time in the series history Monday night when the Lady Techsters host the Warhawks at 6:30 p.m. at the Thomas Assembly Center.
The contest can be heard on the LA Tech Sports Network on KNBB 97.7 FM, KTKC 92.9 FM and KJVC 92.7 FM with the pregame show starting at 6 p.m. Fans can watch a live video stream of the game with a paid subscription to CUSATV.com.
Fans attending the game can buy $1 hot dogs and $1 drinks all night from the concession stands while Louisiana Tech will recognize its student-athletes who made the AD Honor Roll during the fall quarter.
LA Tech (5-4) is coming off a 58-49 win over Little Rock and brings a 3-1 mark in home games into the contest. ULM (2-4) is coming off a 70-48 loss to Northwestern State and is 0-3 on the road this season. Tech leads the all-time series 45-9, including a 22-2 mark in Ruston.
The Lady Techsters saw their seven-game home winning streak snapped last time out with a 55-47 loss to Clemson in a game that saw LA Tech shoot a season low 29 percent from the field. However, Tech bounced back Thursday evening, shooting 51 percent from the field in its nine-point road win at Little Rock.
Head coach Brooke Stoehr and Co. have won with defense this year, holding six of its nine opponents to 59 points or less (Tech is 5-1 in those games). Tech is also one of the better rebounding teams in Conference USA at +6.2 per game, outrebounding seven of its nine opponents this year.
Offensively, Tech has relied on a balanced offensive attack centered around three double digit scorers in Alexus Malone (12.0 ppg, 8.1 rpg), Kierra Anthony (12.0 ppg) and Taylor Stahly (9.9 ppg, 23-53 3-pointers).
ULM is led offensively by forward Gabriella Cortez who leads the team in scoring (16.2 ppg), rebounding (7.0 rpg) and steals (1.8 spg). Cortez is shooting 58 percent from the field and 16-of-32 from the three-point line this season.
As a team, the Warhawks are shooting a respectable 43 percent from the field and 35 percent from the three-point line. However, ULM is hitting only 58 percent of its free throws and have averaged more than 25 turnovers a contest.
