RUSTON - For the second straight week Louisiana Tech freshman guard JaQuan Jackson was named the Conference USA Freshman of the Week following her performances in the Lady Techsters three games.
The Killeen, Texas native averaged 11.7 points and 4.3 rebounds in games against Nicholls State, Ole Miss and UL-Lafayette.
Jackson, who earned the same honor the previous week after averaging more than 20 points a game in two contests, scored 18 points in a loss at SEC foe Ole Miss and added 11 points in a win over UL-Lafayette. She also scored six points against Nicholls State.
The 5-foot-8-inch two-guard is the first freshman in Conference USA to earn the honor in consecutive weeks this season.
Jackson ranks No. 15 in Conference USA in scoring at 14.3 points per game. She has recorded double figure scoring games in six of her first six collegiate contests. She became the first LA Tech true freshman to score 100 career points in her first seven games since former Kodak All-American Tamicha Jackson in 1996-97.
Jackson and the Lady Techsters will host Northwestern State tonight at 6 p.m. at the Thomas Assembly Center.
