LAKE CHARLES - Coming off its most impressive performance of the season, Louisiana Tech travels south to face McNeese State Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Burton Coliseum.

Head coach Teresa Weatherspoon and Co. hope to build upon the momentum and confidence from their 34-point win over Northwestern State last Wednesday night in Ruston. However, it won't be easy.

McNeese State (5-3) is undefeated at home this season with wins over Rice (65-54), UL-Monroe (78-63) and Wiley (88-69).

Tech leads the all-time series 18-5, including last year's low scoring 52-50 win over the Cowgirls in Ruston. The Lady Techsters have won four of the seven meetings all-time in Lake Charles although McNeese State prevailed 71-66 the last time the two programs played in Burton Coliseum during the 2007-08 season.

Lady Techster junior point guard Chrisstasia Walter spearheaded her team in its 74-40 win over Northwestern State in its last game, scoring a career-high 26 points while adding seven rebounds, five assists, two steals and one block.

Walter (14.3 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 5.5 apg, 3.4 spg) is one of three LA Tech players currently averaging in double figures as she is joined by junior forward Whitney Frazier (16.8 ppg, 8.2 rpg) and freshman guard JaQuan Jackson (14.2 ppg, 3.2 rpg). Sophomore guard Lulu Perry has played through an early season shooting slump and is averaging 9.8 points per game along with 4.0 rebounds.

As a team, Tech has seen a stark difference defensively in its wins compared to its losses. In the three wins, the Lady Techsters are holding opponents to 41.0 points per game and 27 percent shooting from the field. In the six losses, opponents are averaging 81.5 points and shooting 47 percent from the field.

McNeese State is led by the one-two punch of guard Allison Baggett (18.8 ppg, 4.1 rpg) and forward Ceclia Okoye (11.9 ppg, 8.5 rpg). Point guard Jayln Johnson is also contributing 8.5 points, 4.6 assists and 2.1 rebounds.

As a team, the Cowgirls are winning with defense, limiting opponents to only 64.9 points per game and 39 percent shooting.

The game can be heard on the LA Tech Sports Network on KNBB 97.7 FM and KTKC 92.9 FM with the pregame show starting at 6:30 p.m.
