Lady Techsters vs. LSU, Thursday at 7 p.m. at TAC
RUSTON - Louisiana Tech freshman forward Whitney Frazier was named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week following her performance in the Lady Techsters 82-64 win over Tennessee Tech Dec. 21.
The El Dorado, Ark., native scored a career-high 20 points in the win over Tennessee Tech in the only game of the week for LA Tech.
Frazier, who entered the game averaging 6.8 points per game, hit 9-of-11 field goals (82 percent) and 2-of-2 free throws in 28 minutes of action. She also pulled down four rebounds, recorded two assists, and added one block and one steal in the win. Frazier scored eight of Tech's first 10 points and had equaled her previous career high of 16 points by halftime.
It's the first WAC POW honor for Frazier and the first of the year for a Lady Techsters.
Frazier will lead the Lady Techsters into Thursday's intra-state battle against LSU which is set to tipoff at approximately 7 p.m. at the Thomas Assembly Center. The game is the second of a men's and women's doubleheader as the Bulldogs host Spring Hill College starting at 5 p.m.
The Tech Ticket Office will open at 2 p.m. on Thursday and doors to the TAC will open at 3:30 p.m.
