The Lady Techsters totaled 4,449 pins, placing LA Tech ninth in the 17-team field and are only 103 pins away from tying 11th-ranked Stephen F. Austin for sixth place in the standings.

The girls played another close match in game three as Tech defeated Prairie View 866-845. However, LA Tech played sixth-ranked Vanderbilt and struggled to compete, losing match four 1,001-820.
The last match of day one saw the Lady Techsters end the day the same way it began with a decisive victory over Texas Southern 872-688.
Coach Shawn Jackson is pleased with their performance so far in the tournament.
"We played poor going into the last set of games," said Jackson. "We're in ninth place but overall I'm pretty happy with the way we've competed so far. The teams ahead of us are national powerhouses and we are only a few pins behind them after day one."
Louisiana Tech ended day one with a 3-2 record. Day two will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
