RUSTON, La. - The Louisiana Tech bowling team came away with victories over eighth-ranked Sacred Heart and 19th-ranked Saint Francis (NY) at the Columbia 300 Music City Classic Friday.
The Lady Techsters (31-40) are currently 16th after day one of competition as Tech totaled 4,191 pins.
LA Tech got off to a slow start after dropping three close matches to 16th-ranked Adelphi University (733-699), top-ranked Fairleigh Dickinson (762-731) and Tulane University (698-659), respectively.
The Lady Techsters recorded their first win in match four as Tech upset Saint Francis, 712-686. Tech defeated Sacred Heart by one pin in match five 761-760 as they moved to 2-3 going into the final match of day one.
Tech struggled in match six as Stephen F. Austin defeated the Lady Techsters 805-629 to end day one with a 2-4 record.
Day two will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
