SMYRNA, Tenn. - The Louisiana Tech bowling team posted a 4-11 record this past weekend and finished 18th overall in match play competition on Sunday afternoon, concluding the 2011-12 season at the eighth annual Columbia 300 Music City Classic.
In Bakers action on Friday, the Lady Techsters totaled 4,191 pins en route to a 2-4 record with wins over eighth-ranked Sacred Heart and 19th-ranked Saint Francis.
In Saturday's traditional team games, LA Tech got off to a fast start as senior Houston Granger led the Lady Techsters to a 894-825 victory over 17th-ranked Alabama A&M. Granger bowled a team-high 192 against the Lady Bulldogs. The Lady Techsters also upset fourth-ranked Arkansas State on Saturday, a team that finished the tournament second in the standings.
Tech had the opportunity to finish as high as 16th in the tournament but fell to Monmouth, Alabama Birmingham and Alabama A&M on Sunday to finish the tournament 4-15. Senior Amy Day led the Lady Techsters with an average pin fall of 180 throughout the tournament.
The Lady Techsters finished their season 33-47 after defeating four nationally-ranked opponents in Smyrna.
